Geeks dream II The sequel

htop screen capture

Building a new beefy server at work, this beast has 40 cores, 128Gigs of RAM, 2 600G Hardrives in Raid 1, and is a total screamer.  It would be nice to have something like this at home, ha!  I have no idea what I would do with it, but it sure would be great for bragging rights, or geek points.

Nexus TV Second Look

NexusTVSo I finally got a HDMI cable (Amazon got to me over night on prime, amazing..) and I hooked this puppy up.  After about 15 minutes of setup and firmware updates it was ready to go.  I played around with the voice search and it works really well.  It seems to search YouTube and GooglePlay movies/music, I did not get an hits in Netflix.

Nexus Player

I was given a Nexus Player this past weekend, and allthough I have not had a chance to hook it up, I do want to give my first impressions of it, mainly my only complaint and the reason I have not hooked it up.. The darn thing did not come with an HDMI cable.. D'oh!  and I didn't have any spare ones laying around.. Thankfully I was able to get a 2 pack of HDMI cables from amazon.com for about $9.99 free shipping with prime. :)

Oh how I miss my trueCrypt.. But, wait!

Oh for years I have enjoyed using TrueCrypt to keep my sensitive data protected.  I have always had a small container on DropBox with my encrypted data in it, usually ssh keys, ssl keys and other stuff I don't want just anyone getting their grubby hands on.  Today I had a need to get into this file, and I did not want to dig up an unsecured version of TrueCrypt to deal with..
